Forests play an important role in air and water quality, as well as quality of life. However, climate change and other human-induced disturbances reduce the forests’ ability to reproduce on its own and have led to large-scale deforestation.
The U.S. needs 30 billion trees by 2040 to meet current reforestation and restoration targets. Colorado alone has three million acres of reforestation opportunity. The largest owner of forested land in the U.S., the United States Forest Service, is only able to meet 20% of the need for seedling trees and other plant material. Furthermore, there are less than 10 nurseries serving the Rocky Mountain region in this capacity.
That’s where we come in! OneCanopy is a privately funded conservation nursery in northern Colorado, growing native plants for reforestation throughout the Rocky Mountains. The demand is enormous, and OneCanopy is there to help fill it.
OneCanopy is wholly owned by Brinkman Foundation. Donations made to Brinkman Foundation will be used for reforestation efforts throughout the Rocky Mountain region via OneCanopy. Brinkman Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 87-4773001.
